Itinerary

  • New Brunswick

    New Brunswick is one of Canada's three Maritime provinces and the provincial capital is Fredericton.  New Brunswick differs from the other Maritime provinces physiographically, climatologically, and ethnoculturally. Both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island are either surrounded by, or are almost surrounded by water.  On the other hand, New Brunswick, although having a significant seacoast, is sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean proper and has a large interior that is removed from oceanic influences. As a result, the climate tends to be more continental in character rather than maritime. Some of the province's tourist attractions include the  Kings Landing Historical Settlement, Village Historique Acadien, Hopewell Rocks, La Dune de Bouctouche, Saint John Reversing Falls, Magnetic Hill, Magic Mountain Water Park, Cape Jourimain National Wildlife Preserve, Sugarloaf Provincial Park, Sackville Waterfowl Park, Fundy National Park, and the 41 km (25 mi) Fundy Hiking Trail.

  • Ludlow

    The community of Ludlow boasts the fishing mecca of the Miramachi which runs through the area.

  • St Andrews-by-the-Sea

    Situated on Passamaquoddy Bay, St. Andrews, New Brunswick, is a picturesque town that looks much the way it did in the early 1900s. Founded largely by British Loyalists fleeing New England after the Revolutionary War, the quiet burg was mostly overlooked until the late 1890s, when well-heeled city dwellers flocked here to avoid the summer heat. Today St. Andrews is still small, but it preserves a cosmopolitan air thanks to the annual influx of summer residents and tourists from all over the world. Visitors to St. Andrews are pleased to find fine restaurants, world-class shops, vital scientific research facilities and important historical landmarks all within its quaint maritime environs. Located about 1.5 hours from Sait John.

    Day 1: Fredericton - Ludlow

    Transfer from Fredricton to Ludlow, and the Pond's Resort in a private chauffeur driven vehicle. The transfer should take approximately 1 hour.

    There are opportunities to fish different species at various times through out the season;

    Spring Salmon Fishing [April 15 - May 15]

    The most traditional of all wild Atlantic Salmon experiences is angling in the high water of spring. Spring salmon have wintered in the Miramichi River and by mid-April, when the ice has retreated, they are ready to take the big, colourful flies of the spring salmon run as the fish travel to the sea. It's the first, welcome taste of fishing for many anglers each year and although the weather may be cool the fish are abundant and available all along the river.

    Summer Fishing [June 15 - October 15]

    The classic fly-fishing experience for the king of sport fish is Pond Resorts specialty! The resort supports Hook-and-Release angling in the summer run. All guides are professionals, certified, experienced and have all-important local knowlege of this river and the wild Atlantic Salmon that live here.

    Trout Fishing [May 15 - Mid-September]

    From May 15 until mid-September, an angler can choose to make wild Brook Trout a fly-fishing experience on the Miramichi. These feisty, fighting fish are available in the Miramichi River, its brooks and tributaries. Fishing for Brook Trout requires fly-fishing equipment and special flies, a trout-fishing license and a guide for a non-resident of New Brunwick.

    Atlantic Salmon Fishing:

    The resort supports complete Hook-and-Release angling in the summer run. Pond's Resort has private salmon pools available for the exclusive use of Pond's guests which offer a diversity of fishing.

    Spend the afternoon (4hrs) in the company of a Fishing guide and be introduced to the great Miramichi river. Salmon and trout pools offer a variety of fishing experiences and guests are rotated through the pools to make sure you have the opportunity to fish from various locations. Your Guide is a professional fishing guide and knows this river so you are sure to get the maximum satisfaction from your afternoon activity. Pond resort is a conservation award-winner from the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and New Brunswick's Miramichi Salmon Association (MSA).
