Trip Description

Our most complete tour of central Canada - featuring Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. Start in Toronto, the "center of Canada" according to the locals. An amazingly diverse city with over half the population originating from foreign countries. The city is a swirl of ethnic neighbourhoods, glitzy sights, and exceptional cafes. Take a full day tour to Niagara Falls, one of the most visited places in North America! Continue on to the Niagara Escarpment and visit one of the wineries, world famous for ice wine. Fly to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Take a picture of the Mounties outside the Parliament, and explore the many superb museums. Byward market, the old logging city of ill repute, is the bustling nexus for restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a first class train ride with three course meal to Montreal. A mix of French and English cultures, this fascinating city is legendary for its steakhouses and nightlife. Take a guided walking tour of old town and sign up for optional activities. Continue by train to Quebec City, perched on the edge of the St. Lawrence river; it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The compact old city is a fascinating stroll, and the art galleries are famous for their superb value.

Itinerary

  • Quebec

Located in east-central Canada, Quebec is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking population and the only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level. Quebec occupies a territory nearly three times the size of France or Texas, most of which is very sparsely populated.  More than 90% of Quebec's territory lies within the Canadian Shield, a rough, rocky terrain sculpted and scraped clean of soil by successive ice ages.

  • Montreal

Montreal is the cultural capital of Quebec and the second largest city in Canada. For over a century and a half, Montreal was the industrial and financial centre of Canada, leaving a legacy of architecture and wealth. It has a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America, with an inordinate number of attractive, fashionably dressed people. Tourism is centered in Old Montreal's historic and quaint riverfront, downtown's shopping, and museums, and the Latin Quarter's restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and pubs. Summer brings a seemingly endless stream of festivals, celebrations, and musical events.

  • Quebec City

Quebec City is the capital of the province of Quebec. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec are the only remaining fortified city walls in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Quebec City is internationally known for its Summer Festival, Winter Carnival, and the Château Frontenac, a hotel which dominates the city skyline. The National Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of Civilization are found near Vieux-Québec. Other attractions near the city are Montmorency Falls and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.

  • Ontario

Ontario is a province located in east-central Canada, the largest by population and second largest, after Quebec, in total area.
Ontario is bordered by the provinces of Manitoba to the west and Quebec to the east, and five U.S. states (from west to east): Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania (the latter two across Lake Erie) and New York to the south and east. Most of Ontario's  border with the United States runs along water.  The capital of Ontario is Toronto, Canada's most populous city and metropolitan area.  Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is also located in Ontario.

  • Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital of Canada, located on the banks of the Ottawa River, on the border between Ontario and Quebec. Ottawa is home to a wealth of national museums, official residences, government buildings, memorials and heritage structures. Major attractions include: Parliament Hill, the National Library and Archives, the National Gallery as well as the Museums of Civilization, Contemporary Photography, Nature, Science & Technology, and War. Byward Market is the centre of the city's nightlife, and restaurants.

  • Toronto

Toronto is a cosmopolitan city with a wonderful network of parks, recreational and cultural facilities. It is the largest city in Canada, with a population consisting of over 2.5 million people. Toronto is the home of seven professional sports teams and the third largest English-speaking theatre district in the world, behind New York and London. It is one of the world's most multicultural cities, home to more than 80 ethnic communities (half of people living in Toronto were born outside Canada). A dominant force in the business and economy of the nation, it is also the cultural centre of English-speaking Canada. Toronto is known as a city of neighborhoods. Districts are often centered one of the main streets (Queen, College, Bloor etc), and packed tightly together, with each having something different to offer each visitor. The relative compactness of these neighborhoods makes exploring on foot easy and pleasant, especially in the warmer months.
