Trip Description

Arrive in Buenos Aires “The Paris of the Americas” and spend your first few days exploring this incredible city. Enjoy the history and culture of this vibrant place while you take a panoramic city tour. Discover the origins of Polo and how the game is played; even learn about the horse selection process. Taste scrumptious cuisines from a traditional BBQ and immerse yourself in the seductive Tango (dinner show & lessons included!). Then fly to Mendoza and enjoy an in depth tour of the land of sun and great wine with your own driver and private guide. Mendoza lies west of Buenos Aires, near the border with Chile. Dominating the landscape are the Andes, climbing steeply into the sky on the western horizon. Snow covered all year, this cordillera reaches more than 6,100 meters (20,000 feet) in elevation and includes Mt. Aconcagua, the tallest peak in the western hemisphere. In addition to providing a spectacular backdrop to the local vineyards, these mountains govern the climate for the valleys below and provide abundant snowmelt water to the vineyards. While Mendoza remains a desert today, parts of the area were turned into an oasis 700 years ago by the ingenious diversion of mountain-fed rivers through irrigation canals. Today, as proof of the old French saying that great wines are grown near great rivers, most vineyards in Mendoza spread across the valleys and rise into the foothills never far from the region’s snowmelt streams. Prominent grape varieties include: malbec, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, syrah, pinot noir, bonarda, tempranillo, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc and torrontés. These wines can be savoured during this in depth private tour of the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo wine region. Mendoza indulges the senses of Smell, Sight & Taste. From the aromas of the vineyards to breathtaking views of the Andes and succulent steak dinners paired with the best wines, this tour is sure to impress!

Itinerary

  • Argentina

Argentina is the second largest country in South America. located between the Andes mountain range in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. European explorers arrived in 1516. Military campaigns led by General José de San Martín between 1814 and 1817 made independence increasingly a reality. A wave of foreign investment and immigration from Europe after 1870 led to the development of modern agriculture and to a near-reinvention of Argentine society and the economy. The country was neutral during World War II. Political change led to the presidency of Juan Perón in 1946, who worked to empower the working class. Perón's wife, Eva Perón (better known as "Evita") played an important role as first lady. Following a transitional period in 2002 when there was a sharp devaluation in the peso, the country has regained its footing.  Argentina is a focus of increasing tourism centered in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires. Notable attractions include the Iguazu Falls, Mendoza vineyards, Bariloche mountain resorts, Patagonia glaciers and hiking, and Ushuaia on the tip of the continent.

  • Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, located on the southern shore of the Río de la Plata. The city has a spectacular legacy of architecture and parks, and its citizens consider themselves European. It is famous for the tango, superb restaurants, and the best shopping on the continent. The city has numerous museums related to history, and art in its many forms; fine, modern, decorative, popular, sacred and arts and crafts, as well as theatre and popular music. It is also known for its preserved homes of noted art collectors, writers, composers and artists.

  • Mendoza

Mendoza is the capital city of Mendoza Province, in Argentina. It is located in the northern-central part of the province, in a region of foothills and high plains, on the eastern side of the Andes, with population of 111,000. A major road between Argentina and Chile runs through Mendoza and the city is a frequent stopover for climbers on their way to climb Aconcagua (the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere) or for other mountaineering, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and other sports. In the winter, skiers come to the city for its easy access to the Andes.
