| Literary Sojourn Launch - January 9, 2006 |
Dear Media Professional,
We are pleased to present our new 2006 line-up of Literary Sojourns. With a discussion-based format pioneered by the Great Books Foundation, and itineraries planned under our Classical Pursuits brand, these trips offer the chance to share ideas about literature and art in a relaxed setting. The days are made up of animated discussions in small seminars guided by a skilled discussion leader, a broad array of cultural activities, and ample opportunities to read, reflect and linger over a good meal and conversation. What makes our literary learning vacations special is the balance - we combine in-depth discussions of important texts with guided walks to immerse ourselves in the cultural and natural history of a place; informal talks that provide background and context to our inquiry with generous amounts of unscheduled time. While literature is obviously the focus, we seek to illuminate the broader cultural milieu by examining all facets of artistic expression, from music and film to street performances and underground theatre. Join us on our literary sojourns and soon you'll be reading Dante's Inferno at the beach and edifying your friends with trenchant literary criticism. - The Horizon Team |
